Two “Languages” Layered on Top of Each Other

In the Reggio Emilia approach, there is the idea of the “Hundred Languages.” These languages are expressions by which children make representations of their ideas.

In this picture we see a child use light and sand. One could make the argument that painting is another language the child is using, too.
