“Stop Crying!”

A pet peeve of mine: Telling a young child to stop crying.

What kind of messages are you sending about emotions when you say that?

What kind of messages are you not sending about emotions when you say that?

What opportunities for learning are being missed when you approach it this way?

    Great points. What would you do? Reflective comments? Comfort with physical touch? Just be present? It’s quite interesting to see how adults become very uncomfortable with tears. They have a need to deflect, discount, or corral the feelings. I could write pages on your post.
    On another note, I have to say, I Iove the white letters on black. One of my favorite looks!
